BRYAN, Texas — The building the Aggie golf programs call home in Bryan, Texas, is getting a $3.3 million makeover aimed at keeping the Aggies competitive on the course and on the recruiting trail.

The university filed the project with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation last week. It covers the 4,275-square-foot Wahlberg Aggie Golf Learning Center, which sits in the middle of Traditions Club next to Lake Atlas. Work started in March and is scheduled to wrap up by January 2027. Houston-based PBK Architects is handling the job with the school.

Plans call for the latest putting and swing technology, new training areas, team meeting rooms, study space and an upgraded lounge. Golfers will still share the practice range with Traditions Club members.

The two-story building opened in 2003 and already holds separate locker rooms for both teams, two player lounges, coaches’ offices, study carrels, a short game area, a private driving range and two indoor hitting bays with swing analysis equipment, according to the athletic department.

It is named for the late Paul Wahlberg, a 1950 graduate who spent more than four decades volunteering with the Houston Golf Association and was a longtime backer of Aggie golf. Traditions Club itself is an 18-hole championship course designed by Jack Nicklaus and Jack Nicklaus II.

Both programs have national titles to point to. Adela Cernousek won the NCAA women’s individual championship in 2024, and the men won the team crown in 2009. Between them, the men and women own 15 league championships.
