College Station, Texas – The 2025 7-on-7 State Qualifying Tournament is set to take place on Friday in College Station, where the Longview Lobos and Amarillo Palo Duro Dons have secured their spots following their impressive performances at the Tyler State Qualifying Tournament. The tournament will feature pool play beginning at 5:30 p.m., followed by the State Qualifying Round kicking off at 7:45 p.m. Only two teams will qualify for the upcoming state tournament scheduled for June 27-28 in College Station.

The tournament is organized into four pools:

  • Pool A: College Station HS, The Woodlands, Austin High, Waco
  • Pool B: College Station HS, Goose Creek Memorial, Bryan Rudder, Huntsville, Cypress Creek
  • Pool C: A&M Consolidated HS, A&M Consolidated Waco University, Cypress Falls, Houston Strake Jesuit
  • Pool D: A&M Consolidated HS, Belton, Bryan, Montgomery, Lake Creek, Brenham

The State Qualifying Round will consist of two key matchups: the Pool A Winner facing the Pool B Winner at College Station HS, while the Pool C Winner battles the Pool D Winner at A&M Consolidated HS.

Longview secured the final qualification spot at the Tyler tournament held at Lindsay Park. Their victory over the Lufkin Panthers, with a score of 32-27, solidified their position. The Lufkin Panthers were commendably competitive during the matches and demonstrated strong effort under their first-year Head Coach, who praised their resilience throughout the day.

Alongside Longview, the Amarillo Palo Duro Dons also earned their qualification, marking a significant achievement for both teams as they prepare to represent their communities on a larger stage. The Dons, alongside the Lobos, join a select group of teams aiming for the title at the upcoming state tournament, where only the best will prevail.

Additionally, four teams from the Crossroads area have qualified for the state tournament: Tidehaven, Ganado, Cuero, and Bay City. This showcases the broad geographical representation and competitive spirit throughout the state. Notably, some key players to watch include Austen Pena from Ganado and Walker Dietze from Cuero, both of whom are anticipated to make substantial impacts as they vie for the summer 7-on-7 championship.

With the excitement building around Friday’s competition, all eyes will be on College Station as teams prepare to battle it out for their chance to compete in the prestigious state tournament later this summer. The atmosphere promises to be charged, as local fans and supporters rally around their teams, hoping for a triumphant journey through this year’s state qualifying rounds.
