COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Texas A&M women’s basketball wrapped up a busy opening week Saturday at Reed Arena, pulling away from LSU New Orleans for a 90-63 victory in College Station that left the Aggies unbeaten at 3-0.
Senior forward Emerald Parker set a new personal best with 22 points and fell three rebounds short of a double-double. It was her second straight outing with at least 20 points, a first in her career. Graduate guard Kailyn Gilbert chipped in 19, handed out eight assists and grabbed six boards, one assist short of her career high.
The defense set the tone. Kaniya Boyd swiped five steals, a career high, and scored 11 points as the Aggies forced the Privateers into 28 turnovers. That is the most by an Aggie opponent since A&M-Corpus Christi committed 29 in November 2025.
Texas A&M grabbed control early, forcing four turnovers in the first five-plus minutes. A 3-pointer from sophomore guard Chaney Spencer started a 7-0 burst, and a buzzer-beating three from Pien Steenbergen sent the Aggies into the second period up 24-9. The lead stood at 44-22 at the half.
LSU New Orleans answered after the break and won the third quarter 26-20 to make it a 16-point game for a stretch. The Aggies pushed back in the fourth with an 11-4 run that included two 3-pointers from Rieyan DeSouze.
Eight different Aggies reached the scoring column. No Texas A&M team had hit 90 since it put up 93 on Prairie View A&M last December. Saturday’s win capped a run of three games in six days for coach Joni Taylor’s team, which opened with wins over UAPB and Louisiana.
