Bryan-College Station, Texas – The Texas 4-H Roundup, a significant annual event for youth development, took place between June 2-5, 2025, in Bryan-College Station, attracting approximately 2,000 senior level participants aged 14-18 from across the state. This year’s Roundup included roughly 50 diverse contests, educational workshops, and career learning opportunities designed to enrich the experiences of Texan youth involved in the 4-H program.

Amongst the competitors were several members from Denton County 4-H, who excelled in various contests. Noteworthy achievements included Isheeta Bajjuri and William Dickert, who both secured 2nd place in the Food Challenge. Annabella Perk also made an impressive showing, earning 2nd place in the Food Challenge and 3rd place in the Food Show. Additionally, the team consisting of Kayleigh Gilmore, Adisyn Johnson, Karsyn Johnson, and Campbell Real achieved 4th place in the Livestock Judging for Swine competition. Other Denton County participants included Madeline Castro in the Food Show, Christiana Davis in the Talent Showcase, and Issac Spector in the Livestock Quiz Bowl.

The Texas 4-H Youth Development Foundation recognized youth talents and efforts by awarding approximately $2.7 million in scholarships to 228 inspiring young leaders. The theme for this year’s Roundup was “Electrify,” chosen by the Texas 4-H Council to emphasize energy and excitement around the various activities and competitions available.

The Texas 4-H program stands as the largest youth development organization in the United States, boasting nearly six million participants who engage in learning crucial life skills such as leadership and citizenship. The mission of Texas 4-H is to provide meaningful opportunities for youth to engage in fun, explorative learning experiences.

Following the Texas 4-H Roundup, the sixth annual Farm Heritage Day was hosted at the Denton County Historical Park on June 7, 2025. This event celebrated agricultural history and traditional farming practices through interactive demonstrations, including fiber-making, butter churning, and hand weaving, alongside exhibits of antique tractors. With Denton County’s total farm income surpassing $135 million, agricultural activities, particularly livestock and poultry, contribute significantly, accounting for 81% of this income.

Prominent figures from the agricultural community, such as Tommy Calvert, president of the Denton County Farm Bureau, underscored the economic importance of agriculture in the region. The Denton County Antique Tractor Club played a crucial role in educating attendees about historical farming practices, while the Dallas Handweavers & Spinners Guild conducted demonstrations to engage the public further in these traditional skills. Adding to the educational landscape of Farm Heritage Day, the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service provided outreach programs focused on enhancing youth leadership and citizenship development.

The annual Farm Heritage Day aims to inform the public about essential agricultural processes vital for food production, contributing to a well-rounded understanding of agricultural practices within the community. As the Texas 4-H Roundup wraps up for this year, participants and organizers now look forward to the next event scheduled for June 1-4, 2026, in Bryan-College Station.
