Rendering of the new baseball stadium in College Station

News Summary

The Brazos Valley Bombers, a collegiate summer baseball team, will move from Bryan to College Station after 18 seasons. The transition follows the expiration of their exclusive use agreement with the City of Bryan, prompting discussions for a new baseball stadium in College Station. The city council has agreed to negotiate terms for a permanent home at Veterans Park, with plans for new facilities aimed at enhancing the spectator and player experience, with completion expected by the 2027 season.

College Station – The Brazos Valley Bombers, a collegiate summer baseball team, will relocate from Bryan to College Station after playing in Bryan for 18 seasons. The move was announced through the team’s social media channels, marking a significant change for both the team and the communities involved.

The Bombers have been calling Travis Field in Bryan their home, operating under an exclusive use agreement with the City of Bryan. However, this agreement is set to conclude on December 31, 2025, prompting the team to seek a more stable long-term solution for their operations. The City of Bryan is currently reviewing plans for Midtown Park, which is impacting the Bombers’ future at their current location.

Given this situation, the Bombers are actively pursuing discussions with the City of College Station to construct a new baseball stadium. The city council in College Station has agreed to negotiate terms to establish a permanent home for the Bombers. The proposed facility will be located at the Veterans Park and Athletic Complex, where plans are in progress for three new baseball fields, one of which will serve as a championship facility.

The championship baseball field will include numerous amenities to enhance the playing experience. Among the proposed features are home and visiting team clubhouses, each equipped with 32 lockers and six showers, a small training area, and a batting/pitching building. Additionally, there will be a second batting/pitching tunnel, a field maintenance facility, a press box, concession stands, separate restrooms, and enclosed areas featuring a small bar and lounge seating. Fixed seating will accommodate 2,000 spectators, and there will also be a video board for enhanced game viewing.

The College Station City Council is currently in the process of forming an 8-member committee that will oversee the design and development of these new facilities. This initiative reflects the commitment from local officials to create an engaging sports environment for both the team and the community.

The Bombers’ owner noted that the decision to move emphasized the need for a stable, long-term commitment rather than a preference for either Bryan or College Station. The team is focused on fulfilling its obligations to fans, players, and the league by securing a seasonal and decadal home that aligns with their vision for the future. The planned move to College Station is expected to be completed by the 2027 season, coinciding with the new stadium’s expected opening.

Despite the relocation, the Bombers have expressed gratitude toward both cities for their support over the years. They have reiterated their commitment to the Brazos Valley community and emphasized the importance of maintaining relationships with local fans and partners.

For the immediate future, the Bombers will continue to play at Travis Field in Bryan for the upcoming 2025 season, ensuring that their loyal fan base has the opportunity to support the team for one last season at their current home. As they prepare for this transition, the Bombers are looking forward to what the future holds in College Station, signaling a new chapter for college summer baseball in the Brazos Valley.
