Bryan-College Station, Texas – The Junior League of Bryan-College Station (JLBCS) is set to launch its 25th annual ‘Stuff the Bus’ school supplies drive from July 23 to July 26. The initiative aims to collect essential school supplies for local students in grades Pre-K through 12, ensuring they are equipped for the upcoming school year.

This year marks a significant change in the campaign’s approach as for the first time, a physical school bus will be used to collect donated supplies. In prior years, donations were gathered without a dedicated bus. Community members will have an easy way to contribute by scanning QR code flyers displayed in local businesses, allowing them to make monetary donations quickly.

Funds collected during the drive will be specifically allocated for purchasing essential school supplies, including pencil pouches, pencils, crayons, glue sticks, pink erasers, scissors, and dry-erase markers. The Stuff the Bus chair and community vice president of JLBCS noted that all monetary contributions will support the purchase of these necessary items for students.

Last year, the JLBCS achieved a significant milestone by distributing over 18,000 supply kits to local students. The organization is aiming to surpass its previous record of raising $70,000 worth of supplies this year. Each supply kit aims to provide necessary educational materials for every child in need.

In addition to the main drive, there is a profit share event scheduled for Monday, July 24, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Kendra Scott in College Station. This event will serve as another opportunity for community members to contribute to the cause while enjoying an evening out.

Starting on July 23, designated drop-off locations for both school supplies and cash donations will be available throughout Bryan-College Station. Community members wishing to donate are encouraged to do so by July 25. The project is being closely coordinated with the ongoing efforts of the Salvation Army, which will host a Back to School Bash on August 9. This event will provide free backpacks filled with school supplies to students who register online.

The collection of supplies for both the ‘Stuff the Bus’ initiative and the Salvation Army’s Back to School Bash will continue until July 25 at several specified locations in the area. The JLBCS is dedicated to community collaboration and aims to invest in the future of local students through such initiatives.

The annual ‘Stuff the Bus’ drive not only assists families in need but also highlights the importance of community involvement in supporting local education. As the event date approaches, the JLBCS encourages everyone in the community to contribute and make a difference in the lives of students preparing for the upcoming academic year.
