The graduating class of 2025 at Texas A&M University is being honored during an extensive three-day Spring Commencement Ceremony starting on May 11. The ceremonies, held at Reed Arena, are set to see thousands of graduates cross the stage, marking a significant milestone in their academic journeys.

This year, approximately 11,900 degrees are being awarded to students earning undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees. A total of 17 individual commencement ceremonies are scheduled to accommodate the large number of graduates and guests.

Throughout the commencement events, graduates have taken time to reflect on their experiences at Texas A&M before walking across the stage to receive their degrees. The ceremonies not only celebrate academic achievements but also incorporate meaningful Aggie traditions such as turning their rings outward and singing the Aggie War Hymn. Graduates are also permitted to decorate their graduation caps, adding a personal touch to their celebration.

Notable Ceremonies and Participants

During one of the ceremonies, Richard Bowman, an Aggie graduate, provided the invocation at the 2 p.m. graduation event on Thursday. In his remarks, Bowman expressed gratitude for his time at Texas A&M, particularly highlighting his involvement in the Corps of Cadets. His future plans include working within the Microbiology department in preparation for medical school, where he aims to become a US Army medical officer.

Another graduate, Jake Chapman, shared insights about his longstanding connection to Texas A&M, underscoring the importance of family ties and tradition in his educational journey.

Commencement Logistics and Visitor Information

The commencement ceremonies will continue through May 28, providing a platform for graduates to celebrate their achievements with family and friends. Students are encouraged to verify their graduation details through their personal Howdy Portal to ensure they have the correct information regarding their specific ceremony.

To maintain an organized and safe environment, the event management has implemented a clear bag policy. Only small clutches and clear bags are permitted into the venue. Guests are advised to arrive early to secure their seating as it is offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

In light of the graduation weekend’s popularity, nearby hotels are experiencing price increases with rooms starting at about $75 per night. Guests planning to visit the area can explore various local restaurants for graduation meal reservations, enhancing the celebratory atmosphere.
