News Summary

The Texas A&M Aggies are set for a major recruiting weekend, welcoming high-profile prospects from the 2026 and 2027 classes, including five-star talents. Among the notable visitors is Kaden McCarty, a highly-rated EDGE rusher. With this event, Texas A&M aims to amplify its recruiting efforts and solidify its future roster by establishing strong relationships with promising young athletes.

College Station, Texas – The Texas A&M Aggies are set to host a significant recruiting weekend, welcoming several elite prospects from the 2026 and 2027 classes. Notable visitors include five-star wide receiver Randy Gregory, alongside several high-profile athletes committed to other programs. This influx of talent comes as Texas A&M aims to enhance its recruiting efforts and solidify its future on the gridiron.

Among the standout visitors is Randy Gregory, one of the top prospects for the 2026 recruiting class. Also attending are five-star LSU commit Tristen Keys, five-star safety Bralan Womack, four-star offensive lineman John Turntine III, four-star linebacker Tank King, and four-star cornerback Dorian Barney. Additionally, Kaden McCarty, a four-star EDGE rusher from the 2027 class who has already garnered significant attention, will be on campus. McCarty is highly ranked as the No. 11 EDGE rusher nationally and the No. 10 overall player in Texas, according to 247Sports.

Background on Kaden McCarty

Kaden McCarty, a sophomore at Cy Falls High School, had an impressive season, recording 59 tackles, with 24 for loss, along with 11 sacks and two blocked punts across 12 games. His contributions helped lead his team to a successful 9-3 record. Outside of football, McCarty has also shown versatility in track and field, competing in multiple events including the triple jump, shot put, and discus, while also trying his hand at limited events like the 300-meter hurdles and long jump.

Currently, McCarty holds 20 official Division I offers from prominent programs such as Texas, Miami, Ole Miss, and Texas Tech. Although Texas A&M is not yet among the schools that have extended an offer, the coaching staff is eager to make a lasting impression during his visit, which could influence McCarty’s recruiting decision moving forward.

The Aggies’ Recruiting Landscape

As the recruiting season for the 2027 class is still in its infancy, Texas A&M has secured one commitment so far – four-star tight end George Lamons Jr. from Georgia. The program plans to build momentum in its recruiting efforts with this weekend’s visits. Coach Mike Elko, in his first recruiting cycle, previously signed a top-10 class for 2025 and is targeting a similar outcome for 2026. The Aggies currently rank seventh nationally for the 2026 recruiting class, which features 12 four-star commitments.

One of the latest additions to the class is four-star cornerback Camren Hamiel, who hails from Desert Edge High School in Arizona. Recently committing to Texas A&M, Hamiel was pursued by several notable programs including Ohio State, Oregon, and Alabama. His recruitment highlights the aggressive strategy of the Texas A&M coaching staff to attract top talent.

Hamiel is recognized as the top player in Arizona and ranks as the No. 12 cornerback and the No. 86 overall recruit for the 2026 class, according to ESPN. Last season, he recorded 50 tackles, including five for loss, along with three pass breakups and three interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown. His successful recruitment was aided by the pivotal roles played by defensive backs coach Bryant Gross-Armiento and safeties coach Jordan Peterson, who also contributed to bringing in Victor Singleton, another highly-rated cornerback.

As the weekend unfolds, Texas A&M aims to solidify its position among the nation’s best recruiting classes while establishing strong relationships with promising young athletes. With multiple top-tier prospects visiting, the Aggies look to leverage this opportunity to increase its recruitment foothold and attract more talented players to College Station.
