Head coach Trisha Ford praised the team’s hard work and community support, as they aim to return to the Women’s College World Series for the first time since 2017.

College Station, Texas – Texas A&M softball has achieved a historic milestone by being named the number one overall seed in the 2025 NCAA Tournament for the first time in the program’s history. The Aggies will host a regional at Davis Diamond from May 16-18, 2025, competing against Liberty, Marist, and Saint Francis. Their first match will be against Saint Francis, with the game scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Friday.

The regional competition will follow a double-elimination format, allowing the teams the chance to fight for advancement to the next rounds. Liberty has been awarded the No. 2 seed, while Marist will compete as the No. 3 seed in the Bryan-College Station Regional.

Texas A&M finished the season with an impressive record of 45-9, marking a significant accomplishment in a highly competitive environment. The Aggies shared the Southeastern Conference (SEC) title with Oklahoma, despite the championship game being canceled due to weather conditions. The team’s consistency and performance throughout the season have placed them at the top of national rankings, where they were recognized as the number one team in several polls and maintained the best RPI in the country for over a month.

Head coach Trisha Ford, in her third season at the helm, expressed enthusiasm over the team’s achievement, attributing it to their hard work and the extensive support from the Texas A&M community. Under her leadership, the Aggies have successfully made the NCAA Tournament each season, highlighting a transformative period for the program.

Additionally, the 2025 NCAA Tournament marks Texas A&M’s 35th overall bid, a notable achievement, given that their previous high seeding was No. 4 back in 2007. The team’s success was especially pronounced in nonconference play, where they posted an outstanding 30-2 record.

The Aggies are poised to return to the Women’s College World Series for the first time since 2017, an aspiration supported by the team’s impressive overall performance this season. The regional rounds are set to take place between May 16-18, followed by the super regional rounds from May 22-25. The overarching goal is to succeed in this tournament leading up to the Women’s College World Series, scheduled in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, from May 29 to June 5 or 6.

As the excitement builds leading into the tournament, the Aggies are ready to face the challenges ahead, reflecting on their growth and the potential for further achievements in the coming weeks.
