College Station, Texas – A three-vehicle crash on Friday, June 13, has resulted in serious injuries and the arrest of a Centerville man for several charges, including intoxication assault. The crash occurred at approximately 6 p.m. in the 5000 block of Holleman Drive South, near Graham Road, and left one woman critically injured.
The driver involved in the crash, 22-year-old Cody Tyler Morgan, was operating a red Ford F-250 pickup truck when he reportedly disregarded a stop sign and collided head-on with a Toyota RAV4. Before impacting the RAV4, Morgan’s truck also struck the rear of a Chevrolet Sonic, leading to a multi-vehicle incident.
In a dramatic rescue operation, College Station police and the Fire Department arrived on the scene to find the female driver of the RAV4 trapped inside her vehicle. Firefighters had to extricate her, and she was subsequently airlifted by medical helicopter for urgent treatment. Reports indicate that the RAV4 driver suffered extensive injuries, including broken ankles, a fractured pelvis, femur, and ribs.
Cody Tyler Morgan faces multiple serious charges stemming from the incident: Intoxication Assault with a Vehicle Causing Serious Bodily Injury, Reckless Driving, Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon, and a Window Tint Violation. Witnesses estimated that Morgan was traveling at speeds up to 80 mph before the collision. Following the crash, Morgan allegedly attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended by authorities.
Upon investigating the truck, officers discovered several open containers of alcohol inside the vehicle, which contributed to the decision to charge Morgan with intoxication assault. Morgan has a previous criminal history, having been booked into the Brazos County jail six times for various offenses, including DWI and public intoxication.
Additionally, a passenger in Morgan’s truck, 23-year-old Jett Ubben, also attempted to flee the scene. He was later arrested for public intoxication after showing signs of intoxication himself. Ubben was taken to the hospital for evaluation before being booked into jail on a $300 bond. Like Morgan, Ubben has a record of past arrests, including incidents for possession of marijuana and DWI.
Despite Morgan’s claims that he was not driving the truck at the time of the accident, evidence and eyewitness accounts confirmed his role as the driver. The vehicle is registered in Morgan’s name, further substantiating claims made by law enforcement regarding his responsibility in the incident.
As of the Saturday following the crash, Cody Tyler Morgan remains in the Brazos County Detention Center with bonds exceeding $100,000. The investigation into the crash is still ongoing, with authorities looking into factors such as vehicle tire issues and poor road conditions, which may have contributed to the severity of the accident.
As this tragic event unfolds, it serves as a stark reminder of the dangers associated with impaired driving and the potential consequences of reckless behavior on the road.
